Goodbye

Date:14 April 2011
Duration:1144pm
It's the 14. and left few more minutes i should say, it's the end of my internship with this audit firm. Today should be a day of releasing for me and coursemates. Well, it does not seem to be a special days to me. It was not my last day working. Though tomorrow is holiday, bringing back work to do is not an abnormal phenomena anymore. I am staying back for two more weeks, bringing back works to do is still considerable. As for Sri, he is really ending his training and yet he needs to come out with a report before he finally off from this audit firm. The team leader asked him to email the draft report to him once he's done, isn't this a bit harsh?
He is not just an example that i could mention, there was another trainee previously working in this audit firm who had worked overtime before she left. She even needed to come back on Saturday after the last Friday she had in the firm to draft her report. I started to worry actually. The last job that i am going to take would determine my destiny. The higher the audit fee, the worse would i be. Or should i be more optimistic? The much more i would learn?
Seeing this two real life examples and hearing so much more examples from colleages, i need to be frank that i am really in worries.
I am still in the previous weeks job. There are too many changes to make, with each changes getting more and more major and causing bigger and bigger impacts to the reports i'm drafting.
Firstly, it was the disclosure amendments from partners, and next is the changes in adoption of PERS to FRS. AND THAT'RE REALLY HUGE DIFFERENCES between PERS and FRS--> especially in year 2010 when the new FRS is effective from. The disclosures could just double the total pages.
Despite that, i really learnt a lot from just drafting the reports. I thank the team leader that i am under right now. She sincerely taught me the FRS which i think she could probably choose not to tell me.
Frankly speaking, in working world, people has the right to NOT TO HELP or NOT TO TEACH you a single thing, what would he/ she gets in return when he/she wastes his/her time teaching ?
I appreciated all the things i learned from this audit firm, all the helping hands that are just right there for me when i am stucked in a problem, all the guidances from the team leaders, the seniors, all the tolerance for mistakes i made, mall the joys that's brought to me.
Everyone is asking how much the firm is actually paying me that could make me willingly stay for two more weeks? Not frank answers i gave all the time. But a senior's words really reminded me of the ultimate purpose of the internship here.
He says:" Don't care how much they are paying you, if you 're staying for one more day with no pay, but with one more day experience that you're earning, it's far more worthwhile than the money that you'd be getting. The experience would get you richer. Don't just work but not learning like somebody"
I agreed his words. I know very well the purpose that i chose this firm but not the big fours. I just wanted to learn the most in the shortest time. As his saying. the experience would get you richer--> It's just another way of saying your fair value would get higher with more experience that you accumulate.
For the new trainees that've just entered or whoever that would be going intern soon, i wish you guys understand the saying above, care not that you're underpaid but overwork. You should be thankful that you're learning, learning to cope under stress, learning to have better time management and learning to communicate in the real adult world.
Once again, i am grateful though i'm actually groaning at the same time.
It's the end of six months internship, I have to go....but i do not know where i'm leaving for...,...
I am tired, but just not that willing to sleep...I'm sick, the coughing medicine just does not doze me off....

Four more

Date:27 March 2011
Duration:1121 pm
It's 27 March today and in four more days, i would need to come out three more years files and reports....This is such a terrible case.
I am counting down, left four more weeks aka one month before this intern end. I promised to stay for another two more weeks in this company. I guessed so in monetary term, it's a correct decision.
I am not so sure what case would i be handling soon. Right now, i am just in a hope that this case would end. GET IT DONE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!!
I should sleep now. Night~~^^

The eighth

Date: 14 March 2011
Duration: 2241
Mood: Heavy eyelids
Counting down from 15 April, one more months or four more weeks left before i leave this company. As aforementioned in the previous post, it's a complicated feeling to leave or should i say, to choose to leave.
Within a month, seven had resigned and the eighth is appearing. He resigned as i expected. I heard about his plan to go for better opportunity in KL. Well, his resignation as the eighth is not to my surprise.
Seeing so many leaving, perhaps i should go for somewhere better, perhaps to a Company that could better take care of its employees--- be it in monetary term or career perspective.
I am not criticising the Company that i am currently in training with, it's just that maybe there is really somewhere better that could make eight people in a very short 30 days to made the same decision, the decision to leave for somewhere better, rather than being here.
Not to be denied, the people in this firm is really caring and willing to share, it is indeed a good place to learn, too bad, perhaps it's just not a better place to stay.
It's the very first time in this Company that eight left within a month, and i heard another two more are hesitating to leave as well. It's really hard to persuade people that the Company is compensating its employees well, isn't it?

It's a complicated feeling

Date: 27 February 2011
Duration:118am
My internship is drawing an end soon. I am counting down with six more weeks left.
The MMU lecturer would be visiting me and two more traineess in this coming Tuesday. I am not in worry at all as i know Grace, the manager( just being promoted as manger) would be complimenting our performance despite what mistakes we have done.
It's going to end soon and it's a complicated feeling right now. Where should i go after this? It's another tough decision to make. I feel tired after being assigned outstation for several weeks. I need a short break, perhaps right after this internship.
I reached Malacca at noon today, been sleeping for several long hours since i was home. I have no idea why am i still feeling that tired after such a good rest. Am i physically tired or mentally tired? Tired of entering office this coming Monday?
Perhaps i am tired of entering office, the office that filled with people with smiling faces, yet with unknown thought.
In that six months of training, if you are doing mistakes for the past three months, nobody would blame you, but for another remaining three months, if you are still doing mistakes, you are hell in big hot soup.
I am leaving, yet i do not know where should i be going. It's a complicated feeling.

Happy Chap Gok Mei

Tomorrow would be the last day of Chinese New Year. Time really flies and here it comes, the end of chinese new year. I did not really celebrate the new year, neither did i feel the chinese new year mood. I guess so it's because i have to work outstation and being involved in a minor accident on the fifth day of chinese new year. The cheers for new years just end too soon for me. I could only feel the new year for five days and i have to start working.
Well, tomorrow is Chinese society's valentine's day, it's day when all the singles gather at the rivers, making wishes for meeting another half, and throwing mandarin oranges with the wishes made. It's tradition of Chinese and we are still doing that in this modern days. The only difference is just that handphone numbers are written on the mandarin oranges.^^
Today is Wednesday, two more days i shall be going back hometown. See my friends in malacca soon.
Broga Hill trip,here i come.^^

Get out and See More things.....

Date: 13 February 2011
Duration:507pm
I am in aparrtment right now. It's sunny Sunday. We all are working in apartment. Yesterday me and my senior worked as well. We needed to do some stock count. This is a busy weekend. It has been a month plus if interim audit is taken into account. It's time to hand in the finalised working papers and findings.
Stress is suppressing the seniors. I could see another two seniors with a team leader of Malacca being stressed out. They were home late in the midnight around 1 am. They seem rushing and their client is really not cooperative. Thanks God that me and my senior still meet kind people. Though the account is messy, the account officers we met are all very responsible and quite responsive.
Tuesday would be our deadline and we shall round up everything and submit to the partner. Being a trainee, i do not feel that much stress as seniors do. Well, i am glad that i learnt a lot. I see a lot of items that i knew i would not know if i were to stay in Malacca office, doing vouching all the time. Once again, thanks for the opportunity to " get out and see more things".
Though it is a working weekend, i enjoyed my days. I just hope it could be done as soon as possible.^^
Perhaps it's time to take a nap. It's Sunday afterall, i should be lazy for a moment.^^

^^'''

Date: 10 February 2011
Duration:921pm
It's nine and we are at the hotel, meeting the boss. I am sitting here, really have nothing to do.
They were discussing about issues of company that we are auditing. Well, the stock costing of this company is not that " realistic". I did not know the real situation as i was doing another sections which have little to do with stock.
I have not been blogging recently. I am in Johor Bahru, on job again. How i wish i could be home. It's the ninth day of Hokkien. In another word, it's the Chinese New Year of Hokkien. Tomorrow would be like the FIRST day of Chinese New Year for Hokkiens.
I am thankful to be here as i really think that i learnt more as compared to staying in Malacca. I realise there is difference between Malacca and JB's office - in term of people, in term of working culture, in term of leadership approach. JB's staffs respect people much. Everyone is equal.
I don't see this in Malacca office. The seniors here respect trainees more and would do everything themselves rather than " ordering" trainees around--> " please help me photocopy this", " Please take this down to the tax department".
I prefer the culture here. I am grateful to be trusted. Thanks for all the lucks i have.
I am leaving here soon. It's really cold here.
^^
