IPCC-Climate change

Climate change research at your fingertips. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the organisation that shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with former United States vice-president Al Gore, is this week’s website of the week.
IPCC is made up of member governments and hundreds of scientists from all over the world, who contribute to the organisation as authors, contributors and reviewers.
Part of its role is to assess and report on the latest scientific, technical and socio-economic research relevant to improving people’s understanding of climate change. Most of IPCC’s reports published since 1997, including their non-English versions, are available on the website. Many have become standard works of reference used by policymakers, experts and students. The range of report topics includes:
  • the regional impacts of climate change
  • technology transfer
  • emissions scenarios
  • aviation
  • land use
  • land use change and forestry
  • carbon dioxide capture and storage
  • the relationship between safeguarding the ozone layer and the global climate system
Presentations by IPCC members and other experts given at report launches and major climate change related meetings are also provided on the site.
The calendar of events gives an overview of sessions of the IPCC, expert meetings and workshops, co-sponsored events and other major climate-change related events.
You’ll also find a comprehensive history of the organisation and links to other IPCC and United Nations websites.
